“Ahoy ladies! Would you guys like to set sail on this ocean of flavor with me?”
Not everyone is lucky enough to experience the Starcourt Mall or treats from Scoops Ahoy to celebrate the new season of Stranger Things. For those of us who don’t reside in California, I present to you the U.S.S. Butterscotch Sundae—enjoyed in the comfort of your own home.
I feel a bit nostalgic for Ohio these days, and since Stranger Things is brimming in nostalgia, I thought it only right to feature my hometown favorite, Jeni’s Ice Cream: Brown Butter Almond Brittle, Milkiest Chocolate and Strawberry Buttermilk topped with butterscotch, chocolate and strawberry syrup. Whipped cream, sprinkles and cherries anchored by a banana and waffle sails complete this masterpiece of American splendor.
Stranger Things continues to be a delight to watch. I love how each new season taps into a different aspect of ’80s nostalgia. Season one was the love child of E.T. and Stephen King. Season Two invoked Ghost Busters and John Hughes. Now season three is giving me mallrat culture and Back to the Future and Terminator vibes. It just gets better and better. And can we all agree Scoops Troop stole the show?
