I have no problem with Columbus upping its rooftop game, and VASO is no exception. Located inside The AC Hotel at Bridge Park, a glass elevator takes you to the top floor where Spanish-inspired tapas, cocktails and panoramic views of the Scioto River and Downtown Dublin await. Private cabanas and fire pits line the outside patio. The interior is bright, airy and invokes a modern European charm.
VASO plied us with delicious food and all the cocktails. I have never felt more stuffed or drunk in one afternoon. Mimosas were served via Porron, a Spanish pitcher designed to be poured directly into the mouth and gin & tonics were garnished with baby’s breath, among the many other aesthetically designed creations.
Brunch plates included Benedicto Del Sur―poached eggs on an english muffin with pimento hollandaise―and avocado toast with crispy peas, brussells sprouts, shrimp flatbread, chorizo hash with a fried egg, and Tortilla Española―a potato omelette with garlic aoli and a side salad (sidenote: the salad is very simply dressed, and I don’t exactly know what’s on it, but it is so. Good.)
I quite enjoyed the array of visually pleasing cocktails, especially the Madrid Old Fashioned, the Gin & Tonic (complete with a little sprig of baby’s breath) and the Red Snapper, a Bloody Mary made with custom Gin from Watershed Distillery and the unique addition of ginger and Spanish red hot peppers.
Brunch at VASO is available weekends from 11am-4pm. I also highly recommend stopping by for dinner (the Sopa De Calabaza—roasted butternut squash bisque with chili oil and creme fraiche—is unbelievable.)
Food + drinks were complimentary as part of a media preview.
